“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do men light a lamp and put it under a bucket, but on a lamp stand; and it gives light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works.” – Jesus
You are the light of the world. You have a special gift that you can share with others.
Why hide your gifts? If you were given a lamp, would you hide it under a bucket? Or would you rather hold it up high, and let it shine– to help light the path for others?
Similarly, I think the purpose of life is to find your passion, talent, skill, and how you can best help others. Then the next step is to devote the rest of your life to share that light with others.
Many of us (myself included) are scared to share our light. Because we are afraid of being criticized. We are afraid of being stoned. We are afraid of being exiled.
Having the courage to share your light takes a lot of guts. It takes risk. It puts us at risk of being hated by our close friends, family, and those who we love.
But know that you were born for a greater task. You were born to share your light with others. So take it under that bucket that you’ve been hiding for so long, hold it up high, and let your light shine like a lighthouse– guiding others lost at sea.
Always,
Eric
